Riot Games has been teasing details about the rework of Volibear for some time, and on the night of Friday, May 8, the League of Legends community got a full look at everything new about The Thunder's Roar.

Riot Games premiered a live stream event on the official League of Legends YouTube channel to ceremonially unveil all aspects of the Volibear rework. Throughout the live stream, a cinematic featuring a bridge in an icy, snowblind mountain range cut intermittently to different aspects of Volibear's full update. When the updates had concluded being cut into the cinematic, the weather in the cinematic changed.

In a recent developer update on the Volibear rework, the Riot Games developers stated they wanted Volibear to fully deliver on his promised theme of “lightning-fueled Freljordian demigod” in addition to his primal identity. That was accomplished when sheer magnitude of Volibear's rework seemingly broke the stream and rendered it ineffective for a few minutes at the start of the broadcast.

In addition to a preview of Volibear's new moveset, the cinematic also showed an ARAM-themed event pertaining to the new and improved Thunder's Roar, as the ARAM map, Howling Abyss, is located in Volibear's homeland Frejlord. Volibear's updated skin splash arts, with varying cosmetic changes dependent on the aesthetic relevance of each skin line, were revealed during the live stream. Lastly, Volibear will now have his own emote which is available as part of the ARAM event.

No specific details regarding the release of Volibear's rework have been revealed, but with Riot Games' recent live stream and general transparency regarding the rework, as well as the success of the previous rework of Fiddlesticks, expect more details around the Thunder's Roar's triumphant return to relevance to be made public by the developer in the near future.
