On the 25th (KST), the finals of the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Spring Split was held between Gen.G and T1. The finals was held at LoL Park without an audience, as Mushvenom, the voice of DUDUNDUNGA, sang the opening song. Online interviews with Gen.G legend Kang “Ambition” Chan-yong, T1 legend Lee “Wolf” Jae-wan, Luca “Perkz” Perkovic were held as well.

There was an issue of T1 being late getting to LoL Park, and they were taken away two bans in the first game. They banned Sett as the last ban of the first ban phase while Gen.G banned three jungle champions. 

First blood went to T1 when Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan’s Graves came across Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong’s Azir in the river. Gen.G struck back in top lane, as they took down Kim “Canna” Chang-dong’s Sylas twice through ganks, but T1’s bot duo was dominating their opponents. Although T1 was trailing in the kill score, they had a global gold lead and controlled most of the objectives well. Gen.G still managed to stay in the game by taking three dragons and through Ornn’s upgraded items, but the gap had already gotten too big. T1 took the first game in 45 minutes.

Gen.G again banned three jungle champions, this time banning Graves, which was quite a nuisance for them in the first game. T1 had a similar comp, where they first picked Varus against Gen.G’s Ezreal and Gen.G finished the draft by picking Zilean into their mid lane.

This time, Kim “Rascal” Kwang-hee’s Ornn solo killed Canna’s Sylas. Gen.G took more benefit by diving bot lane, killing Varus and Karma. Meanwhile, Lee “Faker” Sang-heok’s Corki scaled well, leading 3K gold against Bdd’s Zilean. Once T1 was ahead, the general progress was similar to that of Game 1. As Zilean was killed in a teamfight in the mid lane, Gen.G started to fall. T1 took Baron, and picked up more kills from Gen.G who came to contest Baron. The damage that Corki and Varus were firing out was too massive and T1 destroyed Gen.G’s Nexus.

The two teams switched sides in Game 3 with Gen.G going to the blue side. The picks and bans were similar during the first two games, but there was some change as Varus was banned from the blue side.

The third game started with a kill exchange in top lane. Rascal’s Jayce fell to Ornn, but Kim “Clid” Tae-min’s Sejuani was able to have revenge by killing Ornn. In the following fights around the Rift Herald and dragon, T1 smiled widely. They won the teamfights as well as big and small skirmishes. Rascal’s Jayce fell especially too far behind, and the last hope left for Gen.G was Bdd’s Zilean. However, T1’s champions were already too far ahead. Canna’s Ornn even had a 1v2 solo kill against Jayce and Park “Teddy” Jin-seong’s Aphelios scored an unofficial penta kill (triple kill + double kill). After taking Baron, T1 marched through Gen.G’s base to win the game and the championship.

Through the victory, T1 stood strong as the most decorated team in the world, winning their ninth LCK championship, and their third straight LCK championship as well.
