The 2020 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational has been canceled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
On the 23rd, Riot Games announced that the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) will not be held this year. The MSI is an international competition where the spring split champions of each league compete against each other. It is also related to the most prestigious international tournament, as the results of the MSI affect each region’s seeds for the World Championship.
However, this year, the MSI has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The MSI had initially been postponed to July, but as the epidemic spread wider, Riot Games decided to cancel the whole tournament.
As the tournament is canceled, one of the rewards of winning the spring championship has disappeared. It hasn’t yet been announced if there would be compensations for this matter.
