On the 21st (KST), Riot Games Korea announced the recipients of Player of the Split, Best Coach, Young player in the LCK Awards. The Player of the Split went to Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong, the Best Coach went to the Head Coach for T1, Coach Kim “Kim” Jeong-soo, and the Young Player award went to the Support player for DragonX, Ryu “Keria” Min-seok.
The Player of the Split was awarded to the player that had the most number of Player of the Game (POG) points, where a player was named POG after each set, and received 100 POG points every time. Bdd came in 1st with 1,200 points, followed by DRX’s Mid Laner, Chovy, at 1,100 points. Tied at 3rd is the Bot Laner for kt Rolster, Aiming, and the Support for DRX, Keria at 1,000 points, and APK Prince’s Bot Laner, HyBriD, came in 5th with 900 points.
This year, Coach Kim replaced Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyu, who has been a part of the organization’s history for many years. However, Coach Kim has a legacy of his own, where not only did he go to Worlds with 3 different teams, he led one of them (Invictus Gaming) to become the World Champions. With the new and revamped T1 being led under Coach Kim, they finished 2nd in the regular season of the 2020 LCK Spring.
Keria is a 17 year old Support player, who initially was with DRX as a trainee, then was called up to the main roster when the roster was reorganized last year. Not only did he show the aggressiveness and the innovation that is rarely found with a rookie, he was also recognized for his performance and was close to snatching the Player of the Split award away from Bdd.
The Player of the Split will receive 2,000,000 KRW (~1,630 USD), and the Best Coach and Young Player will each receive 1,500,000 KRW (~1,220 USD). Meanwhile, there are three categories for the LCK Awards that is yet to be announced, which is the All-LCK team, the Regular Season MVP, and the Finals MVP. The All-LCK team and the Regular Season MVP will be announced on the 23rd (KST), and the Finals MVP will be announced immediately after the conclusion of the 2020 LCK Spring Finals, which will take place on the 25th (KST).
