On the 20th, the first round of the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Spring Split Playoffs was held between DragonX and DAMWON Gaming. It was a very close match as the two teams fought until the end in five games, and DragonX was the team chosen to move on to fight against T1 in the next round.

Game 1 was completely dominated by DragonX. Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu’s Varus took initiative in the bot lane with Ryu “Keria” Min-seok’s Karma. With a few additional kills, he scaled extremely well. DAMWON Gaming lacked CC to deal with DragonX’s poking and DragonX was able to take the first game with a kill difference of 14-1.

Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon’s concentration shined in Game 2. It was nearly the same draft in Game 2, and DragonX took the initiative based on their lead in the bot lane. DAMWON Gaming inched back, taking advantage of DragonX’s mistakes, but Chovy didn’t lose his concentration until the end. He played LeBlanc extremely well and recorded a clean sheet to be voted as the player of the game.

DAMWON Gaming struck back by taking Game 3. Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon led the laning phase in the top lane while DAMWON’s bot lane endured the attacks. Heo “ShowMaker” Su’s Zoe took down Chovy’s LeBlanc twice in a row. As DAMWON slew Baron and won the teamfight following that, they were able to take the series further.

DAMWON took the lead again through Nuguri’s Jayce in Game 4. DragonX slowly caught up with Keria’s performance and a dragon steal, and with Chovy’s Irelia. However, DAMWON Gaming earned some time by cutting off Irelia when DragonX meant to go for Baron. A backdoor that started from Nuguri’s split push tied the game 2-2.

The last game of the series started off with DragonX’s lead as Nuguri’s game didn’t go as planned. Deft pulled off a super play where he killed the opponent bot laner when Nuguri tried to Teleport in. In lane, Nuguri was killed by the top-jungle duo twice. DragonX snowballed their lead and the gap got bigger. DAMWON did their best by defending the objectives, but the strength difference was too big. DragonX took the victory as they won the teamfight around Baron and moved on to the next round of the playoffs.
