On Monday afternoon, Riot Games announced their next step in the development of their auto chess title's esports infrastructure. Titled "Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship," the grand finale is scheduled to take place at the end of Set 3's lifecycle, feature a $200,000 prize pool and include 16 of the best players from around the world.

To provide a competitive circuit that is inclusive and accessible, Riot has announced that all qualifiers around the world will be available in the in-game client and through online tournaments, Furthermore, each set of content going forward is going to have a global Championship to "reward all of the players who dedicate their time to mastering Teamgight Tactics and provide a goal that exists beyond reaching the top of the ladder."

According to the blog post, 16 players will qualify through a region-specific system of ladders and tournaments. North America's Final will take place in the middle of August over two days where a pool of 16 qualifiers will be narrowed down to the final two who will represent the region at the Championship.

Although the specifics of how to qualify are still murky, Riot laid out two ways in which players can attempt to earn their crack at a piece of the $200,000 prize pool:

Ladder - Starting the first week of May and ending the last week of July, we'll be taking weekly snapshots at the ladder rankings with players earning points based on their rank. The top 10 point earners across all 12 weeks of competitive ladder play will earn a seat at the NA Final. We'll share the ladder qualification in late April.

Organized Play: This marks the launch of the beta of our circuit system in North America. We plan to have a number of online tournaments starting in May where players fight to earn points to qualify for two potential seats at the NA Final. Four additional seats will be available through partner qualification events that will take place in June and July. We'll share more information about these events before the end of the month.

The development team is in the process of creating tools that allow the broadcasting and operating tournaments to be more streamlined.
