On April 4th (KST), DragonX faced off against Gen.G in Round 2 of the 2020 LCK Spring. DRX was able to close out the series 2-0 against Gen.G, and with this, they solidified themselves in 3rd place and widened the gap between 3rd and 4th place.

Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu, the Bot laner for DRX, joined Inven Global to talk about the victory against Gen.G.

Congratulations on the victory. It must feel really good to take the 2-0 victory against Gen.G.

I really felt like our team lost focus in long matches against strong teams. I felt like Gen.G is a team that’s good in such matches, so it feels good to beat them.

Can you tell us how the draft went for the team tonight?

I felt like we drafted well in Game 1, but in Game 2, they picked Ezreal and Yuumi, two champions that aren’t normally drafted together, so we made our picks on the spot. Our Bot lane composition was something I played a lot a long time ago, so being aware of when we were weak and strong, we played out the game well.

Chovy put on a fantastic performance tonight. What are your thoughts on his performance?

Recently, it definitely seems like Chovy’s comfortable on carry champions. While he’s good with other champions as well, his recent performances have been really good, so he’s able to be one to draw away the enemy’s aggro really well. After the games, he knows that he did well, so he always has a big smile on his face.

The match up between you and Ruler was beautiful to watch. How did it feel for you inside the game?

Both Ruler and I played champions that excelled in teamfights, but rather than things coming down to who played better, it feels like we were able to win because we’re better than them at teamfighting.

Towards the end of Game 2, you almost got a Pentakill. Did you ask your team to give it to you?

We were originally going to fountain dive them, but the rest of the team didn’t want to go in. That’s why I just stared into their fountain for a bit and just proceeded to destroy their Nexus. I never scored a Penta in the LCK, and even when things sometimes seem to align, things just seemed to end with a Quadra kill. I don’t think Pentakills and I have a great relationship.

Do you feel bummed out for not scoring a Pentakill in the LCK?

It always feels good to get a Penta, so I do wish I end up getting one.

Can you share your resolutions for your upcoming matches?

I think that it’ll be hard to get 1st place to head into the playoffs, so the best we can do is 2nd place. However, I think it’s important to not think too much about the standings, and consistently perform at our best.

Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say to your juniors on the team?

Everyone’s playing really well, so since they don’t get scolded by cvMax, I have nothing to say to them. I’ll make sure to focus on myself to work hard.
