On the 17th (KST), FunPlus Phoenix went on a 3-match winning streak by defeating Team WE 2-0 in the 2020 League of Legends Pro League (LPL). They are now currently in 5th place with a 3-2 record, and Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang got himself a pentakill on Kassadin and led his team to victory.
Doinb once again chose Kassadin against Zoe, a champion that’s hard to deal with in the laning phase. However, not only did Doinb give up lane pressure against Zoe, he made the right choices in the right situations to score kills and assists,
He was able to scale well and play out the mid-late game teamfights really well. The Dragon fight was the decisive point of the game, where he was able to carefully choose the right time to go in and sweep the fight. With the words, ‘Pentakill’ showing up on screen at the end of the fight, FPX was able to ride the momentum into victory. FPX’s bot lane also played well, where despite being heavily focused by the enemy in the early-mid game, they survived well to aid in the team’s victory.
Riding the momentum of victory in Game 1, they also showed great performance in Game 2 as well. Not only did Doinb’s Azir was very proactive around the map early, FPX’s bot lane had a strong laning phase as well. Despite WE taking objectives to keep up with FPX, it was not enough.
However, the difference in the level of teamfighting was pretty evident. It wasn’t that WE played poorly, but FPX seemed that much better than WE. The synergy and the decision making from FPX in every single skirmish/teamfight was good enough to leave people in awe. Game 2 was all about FPX’s bot lane and their jungler, Tian, and the team looks scarier than ever.
