Xerath has not had a new skin in quite some time, but a new line of Event Horizon skins is about to change that. Dark Star Xerath will be the Magus Ascendent's first new skin since Guardian of the Sands Xerath, which was released on April 26, 2015.

Xerath will be one of three champions in the most recent class of the Dark Star line alongside Mordekaiser and Malphite, the latter of whom will also have a Prestige Edition version. The Dark Star line serves as the antagonists in the Event Horizon cosmetic universe, and the protagonists of the Cosmic skin line will be receiving some new reinforcements in the form of Cosmic Lux.

The final skin in the set will be Dark Cosmic Lux, which, as the name implies, borrows elements from both the Dark Star and Cosmic skin lines. Lux is one of the most cosmetically catered to champions in all of League of Legends; her new digs mark her 14th and 15th skins excluding chromas.

Since its inception, the Dark Star skin line has been one of the most popular cosmetic lines Riot Games has made due to the galactic scale of the aesthetic being brilliantly used to add an otherworldly aspect to iconic champions like Kha'Zix, Orianna, and Thresh.  Other installments to the line like Cho'Gath and Varus feature a Lovecraftian vibe that is everpresent in the trio of upcoming Dark Star skins.

There's plenty to be excited about in the new upcoming Event Horizon skin release, but Xerath is the ultimate victor of the day in receiving a fancy new look for the first time in nearly a half-decade.  Dark Star Xerath and the rest of the new Event Horizon skins will be available on patch 10.6, with the Prestige Edition of Dark Star Malphite available for purchase exclusively through event tokens.
