On the 5th of March (KST), Gen.G Esports shut out SANDBOX Gaming 2-0 in the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Spring Split and extended their winning streak to five. Although Gen.G struggled in a 40+ kill game in Game 1, they got back on their tracks and mowed through Game 2. After the match, Gen.G bot laner Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk spoke with Inven Global.
Compared to Game 2, the first game was very close full of ups and downs. How was today’s match?
The shotcalls were divided in Game 1 and we lacked concentration. Personally, today’s match was very regretful. I think we should be preparing better.
Still, you ended Game 1 with a penta kill, so that must feel good. Roach isn’t here to steal your penta anymore.
My current teammates here are trying so hard to steal my penta as well. But I still feel good that I got it.
You finished Round 1 in 1st place. Looking back at Round 1, how was it?
Looking back at the whole round, I think there were too many mistakes. I need to improve and reduce my mistakes.
How satisfied are you with your performance in the first round?
Since the upper half did so well, there wasn’t much I needed to do. But since I did well from time to time when they were struggling, I’m partly satisfied.
As a captain of the team, what was regretful?
The shotcalls getting divided is the most regretful. I think we need to listen closely to each person more.
LCK will be taking a break. It wouldn’t be as you planned. What will you be doing during the break?
I’ll probably be playing solo queue regularly to improve my performance.
