The first Alpha keys for Riot Games’ anticipated shooter titled “Project A” have rolled out for a select group of individuals. Content creators that have gotten their hands on the demo have been sharing their thoughts on social media. So far, the game has no exact date to be released.
Riot’s character based tactical shooter features precise gunplay and “utility” abilities, making the game seem like a hybrid between Overwatch and CS:GO. Former professional Counter Strike player and CS:GO commentator HenryG has taken part in the alpha test at Riot EU, sharing his thoughts on social media:
“First of all, at its core, Project A is essentially a round based, 5on5, tactical shooter (most similar to CS:GO as a twitter surface level comparison), with the better (and slightly diluted) elements of class/hero based FPS games such as Overwatch or Apex Legends, for example.”
The game testers had access to the game mode “MR12”, where players had to attack or defend an A&B bomb site. The creator describes the in-game “abilities” as “tactical utility instead of potentially overpowered spell/ultimate combinations that other class-based games suffer from”. The economy is described as similar to CS:GO ‘s, being able to pick between less fire power to gamble with the basic utilities.
“The gameplay and gun mechanics are super slick and satisfying. On the build I played we experienced pretty well balanced and varied hitscan weapons that had their own unique spray patterns and best method(s) of approach for your situation or position” said HenryG on Twitter.
