On February 9th (KST), Afreeca Freecs defeated Hanwha Life Esports 2-1 in the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Spring Split for their second win of the season. In their win, Kim “Kiin” Gi-in and Lee “Spirit” Da-yoon were voted as the players of the games and were interviewed after the match.
Congratulations on today’s win. You both were voted unanimously for the player of the game. How do you feel?
Kiin: I’m glad that we won, but it’s regretful because we should have won Game 1. We shouldn’t have lost that.
It seemed that you were angry in Game 2 and that showed in your performance.
Kiin: We were ready to take the win in Game 1, but lost it so that was regretful.
(To Spirit) You’ve been saying that you really want to beat Hanwha Life Esports because coach NoFe went there.
Spirit: One loss today was different from any other losses; the two wins were more valuable than any other victories.
You were really excited after the match today.
Spirit: I was really happy that we won against coach NoFe. I was saying all along, that I really don’t want to lose to his team.
In Game 2, Kiin even survived a 1v4 dive.
Spirit: There is no top laner that can survive a 1v4 dive, but he did.
Kiin: The games make me often do 1v2-5s; since it happened so often, sometimes I see the road to survival.
The Karthus was amazing. Did you appeal that you wanted to play him?
Spirit: I was supposed to play a different champion, but I said that I wanted to play Karthus. The coaching staff and all my teammates said that they trust me so I played him.
It seems that Kiin-Spirit synergy is getting better and better.
Kiin: I think we’ve played together for the longest in the LCK. I believe we’ll be able to communicate well and improve what we lack along the way.
Lastly, your goal for this season?
Spirit: There’s one more match against Hanwha Life Esports left this season. I’ll make sure we win that too.
