The League of Legends Pacific Championship Series has announced that due to the risks of a Coronavirus outbreak in the region, the start of the league's Spring Split will be postponed, prioritizing its players, staff and audience's safety.
The statement, issued on PCS's Facebook page reads: "In light of the novel coronavirus outbreak and its development in our region, we have decided to postpone the start of the PCS in the interest of the safety and well-being of our players and teams. Amongst other considerations, several members of the operational staff, as well as team(s) staff have been affected by travel restrictions that have been implemented to mitigate the spread of the virus. To all fans, we apologize for this delay and will be sharing any updates on the schedule as soon as we can. Please stay safe and protected, and we thank you for your support!"
As of today, PCS is the third League of Legends professional league to have measures implemented due to the risks of Coronavirus. The LCK has issued a statement earlier today letting the public know the first matches will be held with no audience, and the LPL announced on January 25th it would be suspending its league until further notice due to the virus breakout.
