For the maybe the last time, the League of Explorers and the League of E.V.I.L will square off against one another and Hearthstone players will get to decide the fate of the universe. Throughout 2019, the two gangs have battled against one another across numerous card expansions and are heading for an epic conclusion in the frozen wastes of Dragonblight. Arch-Villain Rafaam's master plan aims to resurrect the progenitor dragon, Galakrond, and lay waste to the world as we know it. Can the League of Explorers stop him in time?
On Thursday afternoon, Blizzard Entertainment released the final bit of news for the Year of the Dragon that includes the upcoming solo adventure, Galakrond's Awakening. Set to go live on January 21, players will be able to play as both good and evil as they unlock 35 new cards along the way that can be used in online game modes.
Each week, players will be able to crawl through one of four chapters of the adventure and collect cards for League of Explorers' classes (Mage, Paladin, Hunter, Druid) and/or League of E.V.I.L ones (Warrior, Shaman, Rogue, Priest, Warlock). What makes this adventure unique is the fact that participants can play as both good and evil as they both have their own campaign. With 12 boss fights each, there are 24 unique encounters on the horizon. Once the main story is completed with provided decks, Heroic mode is unlocked which raises the stakes and allows players to bring their own decks that can include any card in their collection.
Four of the 35 new cards that players can add to their collection by conquering Galakrond's Awakening can be seen below:
The first chapter of the adventure, Battle of the Frozen Coast, is free to everyone starting on January 21. Each chapter thereafter can be purchased for 700 gold or $6.99 and come out one week after the last until the final one is playable on February 11. Players can purchase all of the chapters for $19.99 in a launch bundle. If you'd prefer to preorder, you can do so now for $19.99 and it includes a Golden Classic Pack.
