On the 30th, in the 2nd round of the quarterfinals of the 2019 KeSPA Cup, SANDBOX Gaming took down Griffin with a set score of 2-0, held at Nexon Arena. In Game 1, Park “Summit” Woo-tae showcased the power of Vladimir in the late game, and in Game 2, he snowballed really early with Aatrox, and was named MVP for both games.
The following is the interview with the top laner for SANDBOX, Summit.
Congratulations on the victory. How do you feel?
It was our first match with the new roster, and I’m really happy that we’re off to a good start.
How did you prepare against Griffin?
Griffin is still a really strong team with really good players. However, I believe that our team is just as strong. Since we didn’t have any information on Griffin for this KeSPA Cup, we headed into the match with the mindset of executing our strategies well.
Can you tell us about the new players that joined your roster?
They’re all very good, and by trying to match each others’ playstyles, things are going well. Leo is a traditionalist that’s very smart, and GorillA is very detailed with his orders.
What do you remember the most about today’s match?
When I was playing Aatrox in game 2, I remember avoiding Lee Sin’s Sonic Strike with much ease. Although moments like that aren’t very practical in victory, it was very impactful, so I remember that moment.
Lucian’s continuously being banned on the red side. What are your thoughts on the champion?
He’s the most OP champion in the top lane. Although he’s mostly used in the top lane, it can also be used in mid and bot, so we definitely cannot let him through in draft.
You mentioned in the broadcast interview that you wanted to face Gen.G. How come?
We even gave up our vacation days to prepare for the KeSPA Cup. I want to beat Gen.G and show people that we’re the better team.
Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
I want to thank all of my fans for their support. Just as you’ve supported us, I’ll make sure to meet your expectations and put on a good show, so please continue to support us. Also, I want to thank the CEO of SANDBOX for his undivided attention and support.
