On the 29th (KST), DragonX defeated Spear Gaming 2-0 in the 2019 KeSPA Cup. Although DragonX’s performance wasn’t quite what fans expected, they managed to take the victory. Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon was confident that his team would do well with just a few improvements. He discussed how it was being in a new team during a post-match interview.
How do you feel about today’s win?
I’m happy that we won again. Our goal is to win the championship, so obviously, we had to win today. I’ll prepare well so that we can win the next match as well.
Today’s match wasn’t that easy. How did you overcome the unfavorable situation?
Game 1 got hard. We were shaken up, but we all encouraged ourselves and told each other that we can still win.
How was the feedback after Game 1?
There were a few ‘accidents’ that happened so cvMax gave feedback strongly on that part. I think it really helped us.
KeSPA Cup is the first competition in a new team with new members. How do you think it’ll go?
Looking at our team’s current state, if we all do our best and make a few improvements, we’ll be able to win the championship.
As you said, your goal is to win the championship. What do you think needs to be improved to reach that goal?
Bringing up individual prowess is the most important. It hasn’t been long since our team was formed with these members. We need to work on our teamwork and synergy as well.
How much do you think your performance is at now?
Actually, I don’t quite know my limit yet. I think I’ll be able to get higher up.
You came to DragonX with Chovy and cvMax. How’s the team atmosphere?
I’ve been in only two teams, so I don’t know how other teams are, but here, it’s really fun and noisy. (Laughs) I’m guessing that our team is the most talkative team in the LCK.
How’s the team synergy now?
We still have a long way to go. However, if our teamwork starts to click, I believe we’ll be able to get good results.
Keria and Pyosik are rookies. It hasn’t been long since your debut as a rookie. Are you helping them get used to playing on the stage?
I still have my own issues… (Laughs) Other players do well on their own, so I’m trying to concentrate on my own performance. Keria and Pyosik have a lot of confidence, so I don’t think they were too nervous.
Your next match is against DAMWON Gaming.
Our team’s performances haven’t been that good. We’ll do our best so that we can deliver a better performance in the match against DAMWON.
Lastly, a word to the fans?
It’s quite chilly out, so I’d like to thank all the fans that came to the venue to cheer for us despite the weather. I’m also thankful to those who cheer for us from afar. I’ll do my best to repay you for your support.
