Undertale's Toby Fox Composes New Soundtrack for OFF’s 2025 Re-Release on Nintendo Switch and Steam

Belgian developer Mortis Ghost and publisher Fangamer have announced the highly anticipated re-release of the beloved RPG OFF for Nintendo Switch and Steam. The announcement comes after the game garnered an impressive 50,000 wishlists on Steam within its first month and secured thousands of pre-orders for its physical Nintendo Switch edition.

Adding to the excitement, renowned indie game creator and composer Toby Fox, known for his work on UNDERTALE and DELTARUNE, has joined the project to compose a new original soundtrack (OST) for OFF. Fox, who first discovered the English fan translation of OFF on the Starmen.net forums—a site dedicated to EarthBound fans and connected to Fangamer—has cited OFF as a significant influence on his own work, particularly in character design.

The collaboration emerged after Fangamer attempted to secure the original soundtrack from Alias Conrad Coldwood proved challenging. Recognizing the importance of music in creating the game's atmosphere and resonating with its fanbase, Mortis Ghost reached out to Fox for his expertise. Fox accepted the role, contributing several boss tracks and the new battle theme, "White Meat," in collaboration with composer Camellia. This partnership aims to preserve the original’s essence while introducing fresh and impactful musical elements.

Fox has committed to providing his compositions for free post-release, further endearing him to the game's community. The new soundtrack promises to enhance the immersive experience that OFF is celebrated for, maintaining the game's unique and enigmatic ambiance.

Mortis Ghost expressed enthusiasm about Fox’s involvement, highlighting the collaboration as a significant addition to the project. The development team aims to honor the original soundtrack while offering an alternative that respects the game's legacy and introduces new auditory dimensions.

The re-release of OFF invites players to navigate a surreal world as The Batter, purifying zones plagued by specters with the guidance of The Judge, a mysterious cat-like figure. The updated version features new areas, bosses, and an enhanced battle system, staying true to the game's cult classic status while adapting it for modern platforms.

For those interested in experiencing the definitive version of OFF, the game is available for pre-order on Steam and through Fangamer’s website for the Nintendo Switch. While review codes are not yet available, press and content creators can register their interest via the provided request forms.
