Sometimes, when you’re far away from home, you just want a taste of your own traditional cuisine, and that’s certainly true for League of Legends stars. Living in China as a Korean League god has its compensations though, so when Invictus Gaming’s Song "Rookie" Eui-jin was craving a bit of Korean home cooking, he was able to go one better than whipping something up in the kitchen, choosing instead to open his own restaurant in Shanghai, China.
Luckily for Rookie, he also has some supportive friends who were able to swing by and be among the first few people to see his new eaterie, in the shape of teammates Kang "TheShy" Seung-lok and Yu "JackeyLove" Wen-Bo. The three were all part of IG’s World Championship winning team back in 2018, and their appearance at the new restaurant caused quite a stir among local fans.
According to a report from a Korean journalist and translator Ran, the name of Rookie’s new place is "Gluttonism Korean Cuisine", so you know what to look for if you’re in the area and fancy popping in for some bibimbap or just a look around. Ran even reported that Rookie was lending a helping hand on opening night, serving a few guests and offering a free sample here and there.
The menu appears to include a selection of Korean dishes including fried chicken, pork belly, and octopus, with no online ratings available yet for the quality of the food, but the power of his name alone is sure to make it a popular spot for League enthusiasts. According to a 2019 poll, at least 40% of Chinese citizens enjoy Korean cuisine, so it seems as though Rookie won’t have to rely on League fans alone to make his business a profitable endeavor.
