Vodafone Giants CS:GO player Ricardo "fox" Pacheco said regarding a player’s girlfriend in a live interview he would “slap her twice” in response to their behavior. The player has been fined and suspended by the team.
The statement was issued in a live post-match interview. After Vodafone Giants’ victory in the Liga Portuguesa Spring this weekend, fox had mentioned he was in disagreement with the posture former Giants player, currently on Keyd Stars, João "KILLDREAM" Ferreira and his girlfriend had while they watched matches before their game: “We were watching the games yesterday [...] I didn’t like certain (gestures) his girlfriend was doing, if it was my woman, I’d slap her twice and would leave her at home.”
The player has issued an apology video on his twitter account, titled “my sincerest apologies”. The video translates to “last weekend, I made a very unfortunate statement after our match [...] I came to apologize to the public, I never meant to incentivize violence,”. Giants has decided that due to the player having a career of 20 years without a single slip, they will issue a one month suspension as well as a fine. The statement, translated from PT-PT reads:
“We have revised the interview given by our player Ricardo "fox" Pacheco and have agreed that the content has sexist comments, given his professional career of over 20 years with no stains, Vodafone Giants considers the player’s behavior as consequential and will apply with immediate effect a suspension that will last one month, including a salary fine. Ricardo has shown his most sincere regret, in front of all his teammates and colleagues.”
