Pearl Abyss’ ‘Black Desert Online’ participated in the Taipei Game Show, the major game show in Taiwan that took place from January 25th to the 29th.
Pearl Abyss had set up a large Black Desert Online exhibition booth at the Taipei Game Show this year, following their attendance last year. They had well-known pro gamer’s broadcasting live PvP and also had broadcasts featuring influential guests who were invited to introduce new content. It was easy to see how popular the game is locally from how the many BDO fans stood in line for more than 5 hours to get the limited Black Spirit merch.

Black Desert Online has been placed 1st in the online game ranks on Bahamute since its release in Taiwan back in January of 2017 and has been serviced by Pearl Abyss themselves since then. Notably, the popularity of Black Desert Online has been constant, and the game has successfully sustained a massive concurrent player base; the number of players logging in each day increased by 60% along with the major update added to celebrate the title’s 1 year anniversary.
Also, Black Desert Online has been selected as a title popular among gamers this year from the online votes by Black Desert Online players at the 2017 Game Star Award while the TGS was held. A total of 93 games were selected as the candidates, and Black Desert Online has won the award for the online game category.
The branch manager for Pearl Abyss Taiwan said, “Getting to win the award that the Taiwanese players selected in person means so much to us. We will repay their support by providing even better service without losing our beginner’s heart.”
Black Desert Online is a global MMORPG that was released in Korea back in December of 2014 and is now being serviced in 12 languages across 150 countries. The number of registered players reached 8.5 million in January 2018.
