Gen.G Storms VCT Pacific Winners’ Final, Secures Masters Toronto Berth

Gen.G kept its momentum rolling at the VCT Pacific Mid-Season Playoffs with back-to-back wins over Talon Esports and BOOM Esports, punching its ticket to the Winners’ Final and locking in at least a third-place finish and a berth at Masters Toronto. The Seoul-based organization elevated its play across the opening weekend at SOOP Coliseum, sweeping through two series to secure Canada-bound status.

On April 26, Gen.G dropped the opening map to Talon Esports before rallying to claim the next two. After falling 6-13 in Game 1, the squad flipped the script with a 13-6 victory in Game 2 and carried the surge into a 13-3 clincher on Pearl in the deciding match. Veteran fragger “Texture” led the charge alongside newly acquired Ha "Ash" Hyun-cheol, whose combined firepower overwhelmed Talon’s defense.

The following day, Gen.G faced BOOM Esports in the Winners’ Semifinal and delivered a commanding performance. On Split, the attackers rolled through a six-round opening streak, ultimately prevailing 13-8. They maintained control on Ascent as well, racing to a 12-0 halftime lead and closing out the series 13-6 despite a late BOOM rally. Gen.G’s consistency and strategic map control underscored its status as a frontrunner in the Pacific region.

Defending champions DRX opened with an upset of powerhouse T1, overcoming overtime in both games of their April 26 meeting to advance. However, DRX’s run stalled on April 27 against Omega Group leader Rex Legend Quan’s Paper Rex (RRQ), dropping the series 1-2. Despite an opening 13-9 win, DRX faltered 4-13 in Game 2 and succumbed 12-14 in a closely contested finale, sending them to Losers’ Round 2. There, DRX will face the winner of Nongshim RedForce versus Talon Esports, while T1 moves to Losers’ Round 1 against Paper Rex.
