Tripwire Presents and developer Ice Code Games have launched a free playable demo for their pirate-themed turn-based tactics game, Rogue Waters, now available on Windows PC via Steam. The demo allows new players to embark on their first voyage across perilous seas, experiencing strategic combat where the environment itself can be a weapon.
To celebrate the demo's release, the full game is currently discounted by 20%, reducing the price to $23.99 from its standard $29.99. The discount is available on Steam until Nov. 20 and on the Epic Games Store until Nov. 18.
In addition to the demo, Ice Code Games has revealed a content roadmap extending through February 2025. Upcoming updates include new skill trees and item sets slated for release by the end of the year, along with continuous progression balancing. Early next year, players can expect the introduction of a new playable class and enemy unit.
Rogue Waters is a tactical turn-based roguelite set in a cursed pirate world. Players take on the role of a captain, assembling a diverse crew with randomized skill trees to develop unique abilities. The game features dynamic land and sea environments that change with each playthrough. Combat strategies involve manipulating terrain using ship artillery, offering a fresh take on traditional turn-based tactics. Players can also summon mythical sea creatures to assist in battles after freeing them from enemy control.
Originally launched on Sept. 30, 2024, for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Rogue Waters is also in development for console platforms. Versions for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S are scheduled for release on Feb. 4, 2025. The game has not yet received an ESRB rating for PC or consoles.
