There are many cards in Legends of Runeterra, and each have their own stats and effects to make them unique. It can be overwhelming, especially if you’re new to the card game genre, to learn all these effects. That’s why we’re dissecting all the keywords in a series of guides. In this one we’re taking a look at Quick Attack and Double Attack.
Quick Attack is quite a simple mechanic to understand in Legends of Runeterra. When you’re the one initiating the attack, your units with Quick Attack strike before their blockers do, in the combat phase. This means that, if you have a 3/2 unit with Quick Attack, and an enemy unit with three or less health is blocking it, your unit will kill its blocker and walk away unscathed—the blocker dies before it can strike back. If the blocker survives though, it does strike back and inflicts its attack power as damage to your unit.
Double Attack is more powerful, but easy to understand if you know what Quick Attack does: a unit with Double Attack first executes a Quick Attack, and then attacks regularly, simultaneous with its blocker. Like Quick Attack, Double Attack is only active when you’re the one initiating the attack. Below are a few cards that work either with Quick Attack or with Double Attack.
