After two years of dominance with Team Liquid, Jake "Xmithie" Puchero is beginning a new chapter of his career. Team Liquid parted ways with its veteran Jungler Monday evening, and according to a report by ESPN Esports' Jacob Wolf, Xmithie looks to be joining Immortals for the 2020 LCS season.
Team Liquid's announcement comes off another report by Wolf, stating that the team is looking to sign former Fnatic Jungler Mads "Broxah" Brock-Pedersen.
Xmithie's domestic dominance earning him rights to title of Best NA Jungler of All Time, but his international performances have never possessed the same impact outside of his play at the 2016 Mid-Season Invitiational with Counter Logic Gaming . It's unsurprising that after two years of failing to get out of groups at the League of Legends World Championship that Team Liquid is looking to utilize its open roster spot for an upgrade.
Xmithie's move to Immortals, while not yet confirmed, seems extremely likely. Not only is Xmithie the most valuable North American free agent on the market, but Immortals can start its return to the LCS with a known commodity. Xmithie came over to IMT in a trade for Joshua "Dardoch" Hartnett from Counter Logic Gaming ahead of the 2017 NA LCS Summer Split and immediately transformed the team. IMT went from a 7th place team in spring to a Worlds representative in just a few months.
If Immortals can find success with Xmithie like it did a bit of over two years ago, its return to North American League of Legends will be nothing short of valiant.
