The highly anticipated Guilty Gear 2020 has an official new name. Guilty Gear: Strive was announced for a late 2020 release during the closing ceremony of ArcRevo America 2019.
The lights darkened all aroudn the Pacific Ballroom of University of California, Irvine as a never-before seen cinematic started. Suddenly, the trademark Guilty Gear theme music started to rev up over the speakers to uproarious applause as an intensely animated video featuring the main characters of Guilty Gear and frames of combat betwen them.
The announcements were far from over, however. Daisuke Ishiwatari, the General Director of Guilty Gear, named the locations of two opportunities for players to get their hands on Guilty Gear: Strive in a live demo setting. Frosty Faustings XI, which will take place in Wheeling, IL from January 17th, 2020 - January 18th, 2020, and EVO Japan 2020 which will take place in Makuheri from January 24th, 2020 - January 26th, 2020, will feature a playable demo and a new trailer for Strive.
In case Guilty Gear fans at ArcRevo America 2019 hadn't had enough, ArcSystemWorks followed up the GG: Strive announcement with a reveal of a 20th Anniversary pack for the original Guilty Gear, complete with a first-time physical release.
