Less than two weeks after Riot Games launched Set 2 of Teamfight Tactics, the development team has revealed what's to come in patch 9.23 on Friday afternoon. The updated, which is scheduled to launch on Wednesday, November 20, will be the first set of balance changes to the Rise of the Elements set since it went live back on November 6.
All in all, more than a dozen individual units are seeing their base numbers tweaked in one way or another. The tentative changes taking place can be seen below.
While the specifics of what is being changed on each champion, item, and origin are unknown, based on what is being altered, the development team is suggesting that they aren't pleased with how well (or poorly) certain playstyles are performing.
A common early-game strategy that is being nerfed is one in which players pilot cheap Druid/Woodland units (such as Invern and Maokai) until they are able to transition into something more powerful as the game progresses. Glacial units, especially Olaf, are moderately powerful mid-to-late-game combinations that Riot is looking to address as well to prevent a less frustrating experience for opposing players who aren't fans of having their units frozen throughout a fight. As a result of the buffs taking place to all three Crystal units, perhaps that origin may become powerful enough to warrant stacking in future matches.
It's difficult to make any assumptions without having figures or developer insight available but the Teamfight Tactics' team has shown a commitment to ensuring a healthy and diverse metagame is always on their minds.
