Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez, U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district, added another item to her list of accompishments: escape Bronze.
AOC, who played League of Legends through college, recently dusted off her account one year ago after Jared Polis was elected Governor of Colorado on Nov 6, 2018. Polis, an avid League of Legends player and advocate of gaming and Cortez exchanged friendly words about queuing up for Summoner's Rift together, but AOC warned that she had not played in some time, stating "Bronze V here we come."
To climb an entire division in a single season, while working full time as a pivotal player in American politics, is quite an impressive rate of improvement. However, to those following AOC, this may not come as much of a surprise. The congresswoman has always had her finger on the pulse of the growing tech industry.
Last month, AOC and fellow representatives Mike Gallagher and Tom Malinowski addressed a letter signed by U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Marco Rubio to Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision-Blizzard, calling for a reversal of the suspension of Hearthstone pro Ng "blitzchung" Wai Chung.
AOC, who looks to be a Support main based on her mains, had her recent climbing achievement lauded by the League of Legends community at large. The only question left is: could an AOC Summoner's Rift stream break Twitch viewership records?
