Lunatic-Hai made a successful debut in APEX Season 2 as the team won 3-0 after a round of close fights against Afreeca Freecs Red. Today’s matchup showed inspiring talents collide especially in King’s Row as both teams pushed the payload all the way. AF Red showed smooth connection of skillshots led by Tydolla and attune, while Lunatic-Hai boasted the original members’ intact teamplay along with newly added zunba and WhoRU’s successful coordination. AF Red’s Tydolla even played Sombra at the second round in Volskaya Industries, but saw Lunatic-Hai take objective A rather quickly.
Lunatic-Hai’s Ryujehong proved once again his highly proficient skill, as he made great contribution to Lunatic-Hai’s victory today both as Ana and Zenyatta. His Ana shutting down enemy Genji and Tracer seemed to provide a glimpse at his savvy skill as Lunatic-Hai’s support player. Below is our post-match interview with Ryujehong.
How do you feel?
It was our first game in Season 2, and I feel great that we had a good start.
What are your thoughts on your two new teammates?
Our coaches form a team of six players depending on which team we are facing against. WhoRU is rather young and new to the scene, but he did really well. zunba already had enough experience in professional Overwatch scene, so I knew he would do well. I have this feeling that good things will happen as we move further into APEX.
You used to sit in behind, but you came in front to sit with others.
I have a habit of coordinating my gameplay with my teammates as I watch their screen from the side ever since I was playing a different FPS game. It was harder for me to do that when I was sitting in the back during the first season. That’s why I changed seats.
You won 3-0 today. How did it go?
I didn’t expect that to happen. I thought we would go through tough fights today because I knew attune was a really good Tracer player. He was in fact really good today and made all of us suffer. We knew our fight against AF Red was never going to be easy. We gave each other mental support by saying positive things, such as that we can win if we come together.
Group B is regarded by many as the toughest group.
Our upcoming matches are also tough fights against really skilled teams. I think we should come up with rich strategy so that we can better prepare for upcoming matches. LW Blue is among the best teams in Korean Overwatch scene, so I think we should prepare hard for that. Honestly, all teams of Group B are so strong, let alone Misfits. I saw them play and they were super good.
It looks like you guys are getting more and more fans.
I find that surprising, because I don’t find as much reason to actually like us. [laughs] I am still not used to having more and more fans than before. I guess there are more fans because the schools are on vacation. Anyway, I feel really thankful.
Your Ana generated some key moments and made great contribution to the team’s victory.
I was just lucky when I got enemy Tracer. I guessed which direction she would move, and that fit in well. I feel confident when it comes to a 1v1 against Genji. [laughs] Of course none of my skills should be on cooldown if I were to do that. I think 1v1 against Tracer is more like a half-and-half chance. My teammates were also really well-coordinated. We were on the verge of ending today’s match, so we were all super focused and alert.
Did any of those that didn’t play today regret not being able to participate?
We already talked through this issue when we became a team of 8 players. We said among ourselves that it doesn’t matter as long as the team wins. Those that stayed would feel a little bit down for not being able to play in the first match of the season, but I think they would feel happy after all because we won.
Any last words?
It was freezing cold today, and I am really thankful for everyone that came to watch us play. We will not stop at quarterfinals like we did in the previous season, so please keep it up. Happy new year!
