The Deja Vu of the last spring split finals occurred to Griffin.

31st August(KST) in the finals of the 2019 LCK Summer Split, Griffin was defeated by SK Telecom T1. As of this result, Griffin finished second in the LCK, again.

Griffin advanced to the finals of the LCK three times, in 2018 summer, 2019 spring, and 2019 summer. However, all of these chances ended up as tragedies to Griffin. Although Griffin had three chances to be the champion of the LCK, they never succeeded in getting the first trophy for Griffin’s history.

The "Second Place Curse" has lasted for two decades in Korean esports history. Hong “YellOw” Jin-Ho was famous for being cursed by it in Starcraft 1. In League of Legends, Go “Score” Dong-Bin, the jungler of kt Rolster, is also a player that's well known to be stuck in the 'second place curse'. Score eventually lifted the curse, maybe transferring it to Griffin by defeating them in the 2018 LCK Summer Split Finals.

Griffin has been dominating the LCK regular seasons as a top dog, but if this curse continues in the future, Griffin can become the Korean Chicago Cubs who suffered by the curse of the Billy goat.
