Today's editorial cartoon is about Seunghoon "Huni" Heo who changed his playstyle pretty dramatically.
It's been two years since Huni came into the pro scene as Fnatic's toplaner. After winning two playoffs in the EU LCS and advancing to the semifinals of the 2015 World Championship, he seemed like an unstoppable force, despite being a rookie.
However, when he decided to join Immortals together with Uijin "Reignover" Kim, his performance left a lot to be desired because of some questionable macromanagement and his limited champion pool that was mostly made up of bruisers.
When Huni was announced to be on board with SK Telecom T1, fans were as worried as they were happy to have him in the LCK. With the tank-centric meta of the LCK, fans were torn between their want to see Huni’s Toplane Lucian and their want to see Huni adapt to the current meta. Some even hoped that he could add some variety to the toplane meta by picking some bruisers.
However, when SK Telecom T1 went up against Jin Air Green Wings in Week 1, Huni picked Maokai and Poppy and tanked for his team all the way to a 2-0 victory. It wouldn't have been anything to talk about if it was any other toplaner, but when Huni picks two champions that are anything but aggressive, it is definitely something to talk about.
Huni later explained in the post-match interview that "a good player would be able to play both bruiser and tank champions very well." and later mentioned how he is "second to none when it comes to champion pool." Considering how he stole the show that day, he sounds very convincing.
Now, the question is, how did kkOma, the head coach of SKT, really convince Huni to play Maokai and Poppy?
...Let's not go too deep into it.
