On the 4th (KST), in the 2019 Rift Rivals, the undefeated leader of the LPL Summer Split, Funplus Phoenix was taken down by Kingzone DragonX. Although they didn’t get the win, Funplus Phoenix showed up in the media room for a press meet. Below is the full text of their interview.

LPL played on 9.11 until the last game you played. How was it adapting to 9.13? Did it affect your performance today?

Head coach Warhorse: The reason we lost today was the picks and bans.

Doinb: I didn’t feel that much of a difference. The solo ranked was 9.13 as well. Rather than the version being different, I think our individual play wasn’t at the top.

Tian: We made many mistakes in teamfights and our vision control wasn’t very good.

(To GimGoon) You’re back in Korea. How do you feel?

GimGoon: As much as I had my debut in Korea, it feels new to be back.

(To Doinb) You played in several teams before you joined Funplus Phoenix. You’ve come a far way and recently, some people refer to you as the best mid laner in the LPL. What do you think about your improvement? Do you also think of yourself as the best mid laner in the LPL?

Doinb: I have confidence now. Up to now, I’ve been affected the most by Ambition. I’ve respected him since he was in CJ. I really wanted to be like him. He won Worlds even after he was married. You know, some people are biased that if pro players have relationships, their performance isn’t as good. Ambition set a good example and became a good motivation for me.

As for being the best mid laner in the LPL… It would be hard to decide. I know that people enjoy compare players. It’s true that my performance in the LPL is pretty good, but since I have a long way to go in international matches, I don’t think I’m the best yet.

You’ll be playing again tomorrow. What are your thoughts?

Doinb: I faced MAD when I was in Rogue Warriors. I’ll be facing them thinking of back then. We rather underperformed today, but I’ll make sure it’s different tomorrow. If we get to Bo5, We’ll show different performances as well.
