Petter "Hjarnan" Freyschuss has joined the EXCEL Esports League of Legends team. The AD Carry will be making his LEC debut this summer, after last playing in the EU LCS with G2 Esports in 2018.
Hjarnan, who previously played for H2k, Team Vitality, Team Roccat, and G2 Esports in the EU LCS over the years, brings a wealth of experience to the EXCEL roster. Hjarnan is expected to replace Jesper "Jeskla" Klarin Strömberg as the starting Bot Laner on the roster after EXCEL struggled in the 2019 LEC Spring Split. In the inaugural LEC split, XL's League of Legends squad finished 5-13 in ninth place, only ahead of a 2-16 last place Rogue.
Hjarnan, who spent the spring on German League of Legends team Ad Hoc Gaming, expressed his eagerness to rejoin the top level of European League of Legends competition. He will reunitee with his former Bot Lane partner on H2K, XL Support Raymond "kaSing" Tsang.
“I’m really excited to be back in the LEC again and to help Excel improve on their first split at the top level in Europe," Hjarnan said in the official roster announcement. "Being back with Kasing is great too, and I can’t wait to get playing as soon as possible.”
EXCEL Esports' Director of Esports James Holmes-Darby also commented on the roster move:
"We are delighted to announce the signing of Hjarnan from Ad Hoc Gaming. He is a player with considerable talent and experience, and will be a key contributing factor as we look to build upon our first split in the LEC and push on for a higher finish this summer.”
