Earlier today, Blizzard announced that the Overwatch World Cup continues this year. There will be changes coming to the World Cup this year. For instance, the entire tournament will take place in Anaheim, all within the entire week rather than various group stages around the world.

“To create the chance of seeing more nations represented at BlizzCon, we’re happy to announce a tournament structure that will offer opportunities for all eligible countries to form teams to challenge for their right to play in the onsite Group Stage,” stated in Blizzard’s announcement.

A huge change coming this year is that the Preliminary Rounds takes place before the BlizzCon doors open. Group Stage will take place all in one day on Friday, November 1, with multiple matches playing at the same time. On the next day, the top six teams from the Group Stage are placed in the single-elimination playoff bracket to determine the 2019 Overwatch World Cup champion.

After the announcement was posted, pro players and teams from the Overwatch League are ready to give it their all this year.

In the history of the Overwatch World Cup, no nation has been able to take down the juggernaut known as South Korea. Team South Korea will be back again to defend their title and bragging rights for the 4th straight year.
