With a triumph over Echo Fox in the 2019 LCS Spring Quarterfinals, TSM will advance to the semifinals to face Cloud9.
TSM came into the match up favored against Echo Fox. TSM finished the 2019 LCS Spring Split by winning 11 of its last 12 games to secure the 3rd playoff seed despite a poor 2-4 start to the split. Echo Fox, sitting at 4-10 after 7 weeks of regular split play, pulled off a miracle run of four straight wins to end the split and secure the 6th playoff speed.
Both teams came into the series red hot, but it was Echo Fox who got the edge early. A poorly timed Jarvan IV engage from TSM Jungler Matthew "Akaadian" Higginbotham threw a late game lead in TSM's favor over to Echo Fox, resulting in a game 1 win for the sixth seed.
TSM bared down after dropping the initial game in the series, closing out the series with a far more aggressive approach than the first game. Akaadian's Rek'Sai was a revelation for the early game, and Echo Fox's sharpest spear in Jungler Yoonjae "Rush" Lee was rendered ineffective for the remainder of the series. Soren "Bjergsen" Bjerg was awarded Player of the Series, hammering the point home with a dazzling game 4 performance on Zoe.
TSM will play against 2nd seed Cloud9 in the Semifinals, and a new chapter of North America's most illustrious rivalary will be written. TSM Owner Andy "Reginald" Dinh gave his thoughts to Riot's Ovilee May following TSM's victory over Echo Fox, "Honestly, I think it's going to be a really hard match, but I have confidence that we will win."
