After months of competition across the world, with nearly all countries and regions joining the fight, WESG has crowned its Hearthstone main event champion: Ryan "Purple" Murphy-Root. The Canadian defeated Chen "Malygos" Yong He in the finals with a seemingly easy 3-1 score, taking home $100,000 dollar in the process.
Throughout the event, Purple was praised for both his preparation and in-game execution. His lineup, which included the curveball Big Spell Mage, turned out to be extremely flexible against the field. In the grand finals Purple gave a showcase of his match-up knowledge, when he won with the aforementioned Mage deck against Malygos' Hunter - a steep uphill battle, generally.
Over in WESG's Women-only division, the crowned champion was South Korean player Dalong, who took down BabyBear with an impressive reverse-sweep. Dalong will see $20,000 added to her back account with this victory in the pocket.
