On the 10th of March(CST), Invictus Gaming (IG) defeated WE 2:0 in the 2019 LPL Spring Week 7 Day 6.
Although IG had some troubles dealing with WE's aggressive early game plays, they still successfully managed to snowball around their top-mid lane. This gave time for their bottom lane - who were on multiple deaths quite early - to safely scale up.
After the series, the IG crew gathered in the press room for a post-match interview.
Q: You managed to trade 1 kill for 2 deaths at top lane as you were 3-man ganked. Was the damage all calculated before taking that risk?
TheShy: If Ezreal were to go in at that time, I’d have sufficient damage to kill him off so we just went with it.
Q: What do you think of your performance knowing that you’ve been crowned MVP?
Ning: I think I performed alright. I got carried really hard tho. Got carried to MVP during the first game and managed to get 9 kills for game 2 and this was also because my team carried me well.
Q: Which team would you really want to go up against in this split?
Coach: I don’t have a specific team in mind. I just hope that we’ll be able to perform and put on a good show.
Q: IG is now high up on the standings. What are your goals for the rest of the split?
Coach: We haven’t lifted the LPL title yet, so that would be our current goal at the moment.
Q: Did you guys prepare anything special against your opponent’s jungler?
Coach: We somewhat limited his champion options during pick/ban phase since he could only perform on two tank champions.
Q: Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow will be Ning's and Rookie's birthday. Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
Rookie: I know supporting me has not been easy. I find it amazing how they remember my birthday too. I know being my fan isn’t as easy, but I hope they will continue to cheer me no matter what. Their support really helps motivate me whenever I’m stressed out so I hope you guys will continue to support me and IG.
Ning: My thoughts on this are similar to Rookie’s. The fans mentioned that I haven’t been performing well recently so I’m working hard to improve and get back on my feet. I hope I can pay back all the support I received from my fans. I feel really thankful.
Q: Kalista has been appearing more and more on the rift now, what do you think of this champion for the 9.4 patch?
JackeyLove: I think Kalista has become stronger in laning. It’s easier to get out of ganks too once she reaches level 6. But the problem is that the amount of damage she can deal is pretty low.
Q: It’s officially your 100th match in LPL now! Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
TheShy: I will continue to work harder.
Q: In game 2, IG’s bottom duo had quite a tough time in the early game. However, IG’s upper lanes managed to successfully scale up to turn the tables. In this patch, which lane do you think has the biggest carry potential?
TheShy: Personally, I feel that other than top lane, the rest have the ability to carry as well.
Q: Congratulations on the win, IG! How does it feel knowing you’ve won your 7th MVP now, Ning? Are you pleased with your performance so far?
Ning: I think I performed alright. Getting my 7th MVP feels okay too; I don’t think there’s anything special to it.
