Cloud9 has announced a new partner for its League of Legends team. Sportswear company PUMA will be joining the C9 family for the 2019 LCS Spring Split.
Cloud9 announced the partnership Monday morning, just under two weeks ahead of the team's first match in the LCS against Team Liquid. The promo for the release features Jungler Dennis "Svenskeren" Johnsen in the Cloud9 2019 spring Jersey adorn with the PUMA logo.
Athleisure has become the standard in esports apparel over the past few years, and Cloud9's success in 2018 did not go unnoticed.
“Esports are becoming increasingly popular with our consumers, so this is a very exciting deal for us,” said Adam Petrick, PUMA’s Global Director of Marketing.
“Cloud9 is poised to have a great LCS season, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it. We look forward to working with the Cloud9 team to make sure their players look as stylish off-stage as they do on-stage.”
Cloud9 qualified for the 2018 League of Legends World Championship as the 3rd seed representative from North America. Despite low expectations and an extremely difficult group, C9 qualified for the round of eight and became the first NA LCS team in history to qualify for a Worlds Semifinal. The organization also enjoyed success in CS:GO with the first major victory for North America, as well as the inaugural Overwatch League championship with franchise London Spitfire.
“We can’t think of a better way to kick off 2019 than with this incredible apparel partnership with PUMA,” said Jack Etienne, Cloud9 CEO & Owner. “PUMA is recognized throughout the world, and having Cloud9 join PUMA’s roster of cultural phenomenon denotes an exciting new chapter for our organization. All of us are looking forward to what we’ll create with this partnership, and how good we’ll look while doing it.”
