Riot Games has announced a total $300M long-term partnership with MLBAM(MLB Advanced Media)'s BAMTech. BAMTech has purchased the League of Legends streaming rights and plans to launch its own PC and smartphone applications by 2017.
Jarred Kennedy, Riot Games Co-Head of eSports, said in an interview with Yahoo Esports, "We believe in making content freely available, and it will continue to be freely available going into the future. We have no plans to change that." However, another Riot Games co-head of eSports, Whalen Rozelle, also mentioned the possibility of premium services with the extra cost in the future.
