Skybound Games to complete Telltale Games' Walking Dead series

Skybound Games has reached a deal with Telltale Games to complete the now-defunct studio's The Walking Dead: The Final Season, announced Skybound on Saturday.

"We’re SO happy to announce that we’ve reached a deal with Telltale Games that will allow Skybound to continue : The Final Season! Let’s wrap up Clem’s story right! More details to come soon," tweeted Skybound.

Skybound Entertainment, Skybound Games' parent company, is the company behind The Walking Dead comic book series. The company has never used in-house developers on its games and a spokesperson told Variety that Skybound is actively working to keep the original Walking Dead development team on the project.

▲ Robert Kirkman is the co-creator of the Walking Dead comics and co-founder of Skybound Entertainment.

Telltale Games abruptly and unexpectedly laid off all but a handful of essentail staff members earlier this year, citing "insurmountable challenges." The game developer has received heavy criticism in the aftermath due to its failing to notify its employees of the layoff prior to the announcement, and offering them no severance and only a week's worth of healthcare.
