In the first week of August, one team finally rose up to the top in the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split. Team Liquid defeated 100 Thieves and reached the top of the standings.
Game 1 was a match between the teams tied at first: Team Liquid vs 100 Thieves. Team Liquid gave up several kills in the early game, but they started to catch up through macro from the mid game. As the game went on, the defending champions took advantage of their late game comp and were able to close the game in their victory.
Cloud9 is continuing to rise. They defeated Clutch Gaming to reach a three-game winning streak. Although they still have a few more steps to go, one more win puts them at .5 win percentage. Blaber’s aggressive plays were harmonized neatly with the veteran players of the team.
Echo Fox also had a satisfying win. They took the lead by making the best of Reignover’s mistake in the early-mid game. Counter Logic Gaming did their best to make a comeback even after losing all three inhibitors, but the super minions didn’t allow a turnaround.
Game 4 was also very close. FlyQuest had the upper hand for most of the game, but OpTic Gaming took the game with their macro.
TSM caught a precious victory. They went ahead with their mid lane in the center. Although they took damage down bottom, Bjergsen’s Zoe collected kills in all parts of the map. As his control over the map increased, TSM clenched the victory over Golden Guardians.
