[LCK Summer Day 39 Review] Griffin Returns to First Place. Gen.G defeats Jin Air 2:1

For the first series, Griffin went against SK Telecom T1.

On game 1, Griffin started off well by killing Swain; Pirean used his Teleport to stop Griffin from destroying a ward, but he didn’t seem to know that Chovy’s Ryze was hiding in a nearby brush. Using their early-mid advantage, Tarzan ganked top which spared Thal’s Flash.

SKT fired back by killing Trundle near Griffin’s Red buff. They started to snowball by securing both the Rift Herald and Infernal Drake. Blank’s Kindred used the Herald on Griffin’s mid and destroyed their tier 1 turret.

Near the 25-minute mark, Griffin engaged in a fight near SKT’s top lane. They killed most of SKT’s champions and went straight for the Baron. With Griffin starting to dominating the game, they started to destroy SKT’s tier 2 turrets. On the 35-minute mark, Griffin slew their second Baron. Soon after they secured the buff, Griffin advanced to SKT’s side and closed down the first game.

The game started to elevate when SKT attempted a Dragon hunt. Although SKT did manage to slay the Infernal Dragon, Griffin gained more kills in the teamfight. Soon, Griffin killed Blank’s Gragas near the Rift Herald and started to snowball.

However, Pirean’s Orianna picked up some kills and hit her power spikes. Using this advantage, SKT started to split Griffin’s side lanes. The highlight of game 2 was when Griffin attempted a surprise Baron hunt. By using Ryze’s ultimate, the team managed to secure the Baron buff. With Kai’Sa gaining 3 kills near the Baron, Griffin started dominating the game.  They soon destroyed SKT’s Nexus and swept the series.

Gen.G Esports went against Jin Air in match 2.

Jin Air secured first blood on Trundle in game 1. However, Gen.G fought back with Ruler killing Teddy’s Jhin when he was using his Curtain Call. On the 15-minute mark, Ruler’s Varus picked up another kill in bot lane. Jin Air fired back by attempting a top dive. Although Jin Air killed Cuvee, Gen.G also managed to destroy the mid tier 1 turret. Gen.G soon succeeded a top dive; they succeeded to kill Kennen and destroy the top tier 1 turret. However, Jin Air joined up near top using Teleport and killed both Cuvee and Ambition.

With gaining 2 Mountain Drakes Gen.G started to push through Jin Air’s turrets. They soon secured their third Mountain Drake; Gen.G clearly was on the advantage. Near the 27-minute they Gen.G secured their first Baron buff. Gen.G slowly destroyed Jin Air’s inhibitors. After winning a teamfight, Gen.G closed down the game.

In game 2, Jin Air’s Swain-Trundle managed to gain first blood on Orianna. Using their mid, bottom lane advantage, Jin Air secured the Infernal Drake near the 6-minute mark. They soon destroyed top and bottom tier 1 turrets.

Jin Air started to snowball by securing the Rift Herald. After killing Tahm Kench, they used the Herald on mid and destroyed Gen.G’s tier 1 turret. They slowly started to dominate the match and slew the Baron. Eventually, Jin Air destroyed Gen.G’s inhibitors and tied the series.

In game 3, Jin Air UmTi’s Gragas succeeded an early-game bottom gank. With Teddy gaining the kill, Jin Air’s bottom duo started dominating their lane matchup. Teddy again secured a kill near the 10-minute mark. Gen.G fired back by killing Gragas and Braum in bottom lane. Eventually, Gen.G destroyed Jin Air’s bottom and top tier 1 turret. Gen.G soon engaged for a teamfight in bot lane and managed to kill Braum. After destroying Jin Air’s mid tier 1 turret, Cho’Gath killed Kennen near Jin Air’s Blue buff.

However, Jin Air’s Teddy led a huge teamfight win near their blue buff; he delivered remarkable performance on Varus. He again killed Sejuani near the Baron pit and reached 7 kills. Although Jin Air safely secured the Baron, Gen.G won a huge teamfight and aced Jin Air. After this win, they destroyed the Nexus and closed down the series.
