On the 2nd of August, at the Sangam e-Stadium, the 38th day of the '2018 LCK Summer Split' took place. On the first series of the day, Hanwha Life Esports defeated MVP with a score of 2-0. Throughout the series, Lindarang played reliably for his team, even winning 1 vs. 1 against the enemy Gangplank. In an interview following the series, Lindarang asserted his resolution for the remaining games of the Summer Split.
The following is the full text of the interview with HLE Lindarang.
How do you feel?
We're on a streak. Starting with this victory, I feel that we can reach the Summer Playoffs. I'm very excited.
There are rumors that your head coach became really angry recently in an attempt to better you guys.
Our head coach was very sensitive until very recently. But now, he's put more faith in us and gave us more say in the team.
HLE seems to often lose the lead in failed attempts to get more advantages, even in situations where you don't need to.
We don't know why either... but in dire moments, we need to stay focused and handle the situation well. I think we were slow in that regard.
You and your team played very carefully this time. Are you satisfied with the overall performance of the team?
The match went smoothly, and the game ended without any upsets -- just as we had practiced. Although we made a mistake in decision-making in game 2, overall, I'm satisfied with how we performed.
Regarding head coach Kang's coaching style, I'm curious as to what your opinion is.
When our head coach scolds us, he scolds us hard -- but when at ease, he gives us a lot of freedom. He knows when to push, and he knows when to pull. He's also really good at keeping the players' mentality in check and gives us a lot of feedback in regards to the game. Many people think that he specializes in only taking care of the players, but he has a good eye for the game, too.
You won a 1 vs. 1 fight against the enemy toplaner. What were you thinking at the time?
Gangplank had a kill through an exchange that happened in the botlane. I guess he thought that he had the lead when he came running for me. When I fought back, I had a feeling that I could win. That's why I continued to fight him.
Your match on Sunday is very important. It's a match that will decide whether HLE or Afreeca Freecs advances to the Playoffs.
They were a tough opponent in Round 1. We'll have to prepare well. They're right next to us in the LCK standings... they're definitely not a team that we can look down on. I think the match will be decided through the midlane and jungle. I'm confident in my abilities to do well in the toplane, so if the midlane and jungle matchup goes well, I think we'd be able to easily take the win.
Any last words?
We've been doing our best to refine our weaknesses, scrimming until midnight to improve. In order to advance to the Summer Playoffs, we'll pour everything that we have into our games.
