The 2018 Jakarta-Palembang LoL East Asia regional qualifiers are held for 3 days in Hong Kong starting on June 8th (KST). Despite the fact that it was not the main event, fans were still hyped since it was a great chance to watch quality players play as representatives of their countries. However, once the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) announced that the LoL regional qualifiers were to be held in private, numerous fans were left disappointed; there were no broadcasts, which meant that the fans could only get information about the games once the OCA officially released the match information.
The qualifiers were held in complete privacy as planned, and the LoL community was full of rumors about the results. However, it seems like some fans managed to get information about the games beforehand; on one fan’s SNS account, there was a photo that shows Korea’s coach Zefa on his back. In the picture, you can see a glimpse of Faker picking Yasuo against China. It is said that Faker carried that game using Yasuo, leading the team to victory.
In regards to the results, it is said that Taiwan is currently on the top with a record of 9 wins and 1 loss. In second place is team Korea with 8 wins and 2 losses. China follows at third with 7 wins and 3 losses.
As Taiwan is showing some remarkable performance going into the 2nd round, some fans are concerned about the fact that the ‘major league’ regions, Korea and China, are possibly underperforming.
Meanwhile, the exact date of when OCA will officially release the match results is still undecided.
notes: The pictures and information in this article are rumors from the fans on the LoL East Asia regional qualifiers. The official results might differ since this information is not from the OCA’s official announcement.
