Fnatic to scout Fortnite players next week at E3

Following Epic Games’ announcement that the company will provide $100 Million for Fortnite esports tournaments, a number of established organizations have shown interest in entering the game’s competitive scene. These organizations include big names such as TSM, FaZe Clan, and Team Liquid.

The latest big name to show interest is none other than Fnatic, famous for its extremely successful League of Legends and Counter Strike: Global Offensive teams, among other titles. This shouldn't come as surprising news as it was actually expected that more big names would be lured by the prospect of millions of dollars in prizes.

However, the unusual way the UK-based organization will be looking to form its team is what caught everyone’s attention: in a multi-day event hosted at DXRacer’s booth at E3, anyone interested can prove they are worthy of joining Fnatic’s team. It will be a “first come, first served” type of event where players will have the chance to impress Fnatic’s scouting team – while also winning prizes from Fnatic’s newly released brand of Gear products.

Trial by kill

Players with 5 kills in a game will receive a mousepad, while 10 kills earn players a FNATIC Gear Clutch 2 mouse. Besides, the player that delivers the best performance of the day will be going home with a brand new Fnatic Gear Streak Keyboard – while of course catching the attention of the organization.

This sort of unconventional trial will be conducted by Fnatic’s Fortnite captain Johan “Ettnix” Bengtsson, who said that this could be a once in a lifestyle opportunity for aspiring pros:

“For players that live and breathe esports, an opportunity like this is one in a million. This is their chance to show up and impress when the pressure is on. I might even give a few the chance to play against me!”

“As always with Fnatic, we’re looking to recruit the world’s best. By running this experiment at E3, which is the first time we’ve ever done anything like this as an organization, we are providing fans with the opportunity to showcase their ability on Fortnite and have some fun. You never know, we may even unearth some hidden talent that could one day compete for Fnatic.”
