Santorin and KonKwon join FlyQuest’s NA LCS line-up

NA LCS side FlyQuest announced on their official Twitter account that jungler Lucas "Santorin" Tao Kilmer Larsen and support Kevin "KonKwon" Kwon joined the organization for the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split, and will be in the starting line-up for the team’s first series of the split against Echo Fox on June 16.

This announcement adds another layer of confirmation that Andy "AnDa" Hoang support William "Stunt" Chen will be stepping down from their respective roles, with the jungler joining FlyQuest’s Academy Team, while Stunt has already been transferred to another organization, as announced last week by FlyQuest.

Moreover, it has been announced as well that Isaac "Pekin Woof" Marconis was signed – however still pending Riot Games’ approval – to replace Jang "Keane" Lae-young as the Academy team’s starting midlaner, with the Korean player being moved to the main roster after the departure of “Song "Fly" Yong-jun”, announced on April 27.

Most well-known for his time at TSM in 2015 and NRG eSports in the latter stages of the 2016 Spring Split, Santorin rejoins the NA LCS after a very difficult start to the year, with the player being dropped from H2K-Gaming’s starting line-up over in the EU LCS after just 6 games played. Now back in North America, the Dane will be reunited with former teammate Jason "WildTurtle" Tran, with whom he won the 2015 NA LCS Spring Split and took place at the 2015 World Championship in Europe, with TSM however failing to get past of the Group Stages.

“Really excited to be playing for Flyquest,” wrote the player on Twitter following the official announcement. “Getting to play with WildTurtle again is amazing and I am really looking forward to work with all these great staff and team members. I'll try to pump out a few streams here and there, but I'll mainly be focusing on my LCS performance.”

Meanwhile, KonKwon joins FlyQuest after working as an analyst for TSM during the Spring Split. As a player, he was the starting support for NRG eSports and Apex Gaming in the NA LCS back in 2016, before announcing his retirement following the conclusion of the 2016 Summer Split, stating that “I think I'm not good enough to be where I want to be."

However, he quickly changed his mind, joining Challenger Series side Big Gods Jackals in December 2016 for the 2017 NA Challenger Series Spring Split, before playing 6 games for Team Liquid during the 2017 NA LCS Summer Split.

With Brandon "Saintvicious" DiMarco being announced yesterday as FlyQuest’s newest Strategic Coach, KonKwon will be reunited with the head coach from his time at Apex, arguably the best period of his career so far.

The new signings round up a very active transfer phase from FlyQuest, with the organization going on a near complete overhaul to restructure both their rosters and coaching staff after an unsuccessful Spring Split, which saw them going 6-12 to end the season placed 8th out of 10 teams: besides the aforementioned names, jungler Lee "Shrimp" Byeong-hoon – despite the first place finish at the inaugural edition of the North American Academy League – and strategic coach Jung "RapidStar" Min-sung left the team in recent weeks.
