Level 56 Rabam Skill Recommendations: Which one should you choose between the two

Rabam’s Enlightenment will be updated in Black Desert Online NA/EU very soon. Rabam’s Enlightenment is a system that allows you to combine two main skills and create a more powerful new skill. You can still use the old skills after the skill fusion, so it essentially allows you to have one additional skill.

You can choose one Rabam skill out of two options at level 56, and the same rule applies for your level 57 Rabam skill. For each level there is one main skill and two sub skills, and the combination is “main skill + sub skill #1” or “main skill + sub skill #2”. The two Rabam skills have different stats and effects. For example, Rabam Skill A (main skill + sub skill#1) can deal massive damage and Rabam Skill B (main skill + sub skill#2) can inflict CC from a distance. You can only choose one Rabam skill per level level (2 in total if you are level 57), and it requires Armstrong’s Skill Guide to change to the other Rabam Skill.

Rabam skills can be powerful, but some classes don’t use Rabam skills much since the prerequisite skills might require a lot of skill points. Also, in most cases, using a Rabam skill will make your character switch to non-awakening. Below are the recommended Rabam skills for each class, so you can see which Rabam skills are good and which are not.

■ Warrior

The Warrior’s level 56 Rabam skills are Seismic Strike and Frenzied Spear. The main skill is Ground Smash, and the sub skills are Ground Roar (for Seismic Strike) and Piercing Spear (for Frenzied Spear).

Seismic Strike can inflict Bound within a large AoE and can deal massive damage at the same time. It will also pull and spin targets in PvE (i.e. monsters only). Frenzied Spear is a ranged skill where the Warrior throws a spear to the target and deals additional damage after quickly approaching the target.

Frenzied Spear is the recommended one. The Warrior can move a long distance with Frenzied Spear, and the skill can deal decent damage in both PvE and PvP. If the Warrior switches to Awakening at the moment of the extra hit, the Warrior can start an Awakening combo without any animation delays. Seismic Strike is a powerful skill damage-wise, but it has a long and slow animation before it actually deals damage. The long animation decreases the overall DPS in PvE, and makes it hard to hit targets in PvP.

■ Sorceress

The Sorceress is one of the classes that uses Rabam skills a lot. The Sorceress’ level 56 Rabam skills are Shadow Ignition and Crow Nightmare. The main skill is Bloody Calamity, and the sub skills are Shadow Eruption (for Shadow Ignition) and Rushing Crow (for Crow Nightmare).

Many players prefer Shadow Ignition over Crow Nightmare. Shadow Ignition has a very short cooldown (10 sec), and will deal a good amount of damage to enemies with Air Attack and Air Smash. Crow Nightmare deals less damage than Shadow Ignition does, and has a 40 sec cooldown. Shadow Ignition is more recommended for both PvP and PvE.

Crow Nightmare can heal HP, but the long 40 second cooldown makes the HP recovery not very viable. On the other hand, Shadow Ignition is viable in both PvP and PvE.

■ Ranger

Neither one of the Ranger’s level 56 Rabam skills are used in PvE. The Ranger’s level 56 Rabam skills are Squall Shot and Tearing Shot. The main skill is Charging Wind, and the sub skills are Penetrating Wind (for Squall Shot), and Blasting Gust (for Tearing Shot).

If you are a PvE-oriented Ranger main, neither one is needed. There has been a lot of experiments with the Ranger’s level 56 Rabam skills, but the conclusion was that using Kamasylven Sword combos will deal more damage.

In PvP, Tearing Shot is prefered over Squall Shot. Both skills are used as ranged poking skills, but Tearing Shot is slightly smoother in connecting to other skills afterwards. Also, Squall Shot cannot hit the target if there is a geographical elevation difference.

■ Berserker

The Berserker is another class that uses Rabam skills a lot. The Berserker’s level 56 Rabam skills are Feral Rage and Feral Stampede. The main skill is Raging Thunder, and the sub skills are Wrath of Beast (for Feral Rage) and Tackling Rock (for Feral Stampede).

The more recommended one between the two is Feral Stampede. Feral Stampede is a skill where the Berserker quickly dashes forward. It can also deal a decent amount of damage, and will give a magic defense buff to the Berserker.

Feral Rage is an upgraded version of Raging Thunder. The Berserker has to spin continuously to accumulate more damage, and it is hard to do that when there is no SA/FG. The skill is very vulnerable to CC in both PvE and PvP, so the skill is not used much.

■ Tamer

Since the Tamer’s Absolute skills are relatively better than other classes’ Absolute skills, Rabam skills are definitely necessary for the Tamer. The Tamer’s level 56 Rabam skills are Horror Slam and Resonance. The main skill is Fearful Trembling, and the sub skills are Surging Tide (for Horror Slam) and Void Lightning (for Resonance).

Resonance is absolutely required. The skill will make your non-Awakening combos more powerful. The skill is one of the best Rabam skills with fast animation and high damage percentage. Because Resonance is used a lot in both PvE and PvP, Surging Tide is not used often.

■ Valkyrie

The Valkyrie’s level 56 Rabam skills are Celestial Cry and Celestial Smite. The main skill is Heaven’s Echo, and the sub skills are Breath of Elion (for Celestial Cry) and Celestial Spear (for Celestial Smite). Both skills have the same level of efficiency, so the choice would depend on how you play the game.

Celestial Cry is a healing skill, so using this skill with Breath of Elion will make a powerful healing chain. In contrast, Celestial Smite is a skill for more damage output. The skill itself cannot deal massive damage, but it will increase the damage of the next skill in PvP. In PvE, the skill can be used in between main DPS skills when they are on cooldown and is also used for pulling monsters.

If you want to play more safely, you can choose Celestial Cry for an additional heal skill. If you want more damage instead of heal, you can choose Celestial Smite.

■ Musa

The Musa’s level 56 Rabam skills are Ultimate: Musa Spirit and Steel Gale. The main skill is Blind Thrust, and the sub skills are Musa Spirit (for Ultimate: Musa Spirit) and Rising Storm (for Steel Gale).

Ultimate: Musa Spirit is prefered here. Using Ultimate: Musa Spirit and Dragon Bite after Twister will deal massive damage as a combo using the Critical Hit buff, and will recover some HP as well. The skill is very efficient in both PvE and PvP.

On the other hand, Steel Gale cannot deal massive damage and has a slow animation as well. The skill does not have any “guards” (SA/FG) even though it is a melee skill, so it makes the Musa vulnerable to CC attacks.

■ Maehwa

The Maehwa’s level 56 Rabam skills are similar to the Musa’s Rabam skills. The skills are Ultimate: Maehwa’s Will and Chaos: Crimson Gust. The main skill is Maehwa’s Will, and the sub skills are Blind Thrust (for Ultimate: Maehwa’s Will) and Chaos: Red Moon (for Chaos: Crimson Gust).

Unlike the Musa’s Rabam skills, both of the Maehwa’s Rabam skills are good. Ultimate: Maehwa’s Will has the same stats and mechanics as Ultimate: Musa Spirit. It will pull monsters while dealing damage, and will recover HP and provide a Critical Hit buff to make PvE easier.

Chaos: Crimson Gust has lower total damage percentage compared to Steel Gale, but the mechanics make the skill deal more damage than Steel Gale does, especially in PvP. When the Maehwa initiates a combo in PvP, Chaos: Crimson Gust will help the Maehwa deal huge damage within a short period of time. However, the skill lacks SA/FG, so well-timed usage of the skill is required.

■ Wizard

Even though the Witch and the Wizard have the same pre-awakening skills, they have different Rabam skills. The Wizard’s level 56 Rabam skills are Sage's Light and Sage's Thunder. The main skill is Sage’s Memory, and the sub skills are Healing Lighthouse (for Sage's Light) and Fireball (for Sage's Thunder).

Sage's Light is a skill that can maximize the Wizard’s healing ability when used with Sage’s Memory and Healing Lighthouse. It is a frequently used skill in PvP, PvE, and in RvR. It cannot be used with keyboard commands in awakening stance, but can be used with quick slots, which is another advantage of the skill.

Sage's Thunder is not as frequently used as Sage's Light, but is sometimes used in PvP for Knock Down. When the enemy is knocked down, the Wizard can use Lava Field, Hellfire, and Flame Knot to continuously deal damage.

It depends on how you play the character, though the majority of players prefer Sage's Light. Sage's Light is used more frequently in PvP and in RvR, as Sage's Light can heal the Wizard along with friendly targets nearby.

■ Witch

The Witch’s level 56 Rabam skills are Sage's Light and Sage's Rage. The main skill is Sage’s Memory, and the sub skills are Healing Lighthouse (for Sage's Light) and Lightning (for Sage's Rage).

Sage's Light is frequently used, just as the skill is frequently used by Wizards, and Sage's Rage is not very prefered among players. The range and the damage is fairly good, but the Aoe is very small so it’s hard to hit targets with the skill.

Sage's Light can provide healing for self and friends, so choosing Sage's Light over Sage's Rage would be the better choice.

■ Kunoichi

Players choose different Rabam skills for the Kunoichi, depending on their gameplay style and their gear score. The Kunoichi’s level 56 Rabam skills are Ninjutsu: Oni Shadow and Ninjutsu: Sinew Cut. The main skill is Smokescreen, and the sub skills are Ninjutsu: Concealment (for Ninjutsu: Oni Shadow) and Tendon Cutter (for Ninjutsu: Sinew Cut).

Ninjutsu: Sinew Cut is a skill where the Kunoichi quickly moves behind the enemy, becomes concealed, and then deals damage at the spot where the Kunoichi stood before. The Kunoichi is free to move when the skill starts dealing damage and the target will be stiffened, so the Kunoichi can either use other skills or escape while the skill is on.

Ninjutsu: Oni Shadow is a skill where the Kunoichi moves forward and becomes concealed, while gaining a special buff. When the buff is on, concealment will not turn off even when the Kunoichi takes damage and the Kunoichi will return to concealment every time she uses Ghost Step. So the Kunoichi can use the combo of Oni Shadow-Attack-Ghost Step-Attack-Ghost Step to keep attacking and hiding.

Ninjutsu: Sinew Cut is recommended for players who have relatively lower gear score, as the skill can deal high damage and then can be smoothly connected to other skills afterwards. Ninjutsu: Oni Shadow is recommended for players who want to have more survivability or do not need an additional DPS skill.

■ Ninja

The Ninja does not really need to get a Rabam skill at level 56. The Ninja should get Absolute skills and a level 57 Rabam skill first, and then get a level 56 Rabam skill if there are some extra skill points. The Ninja’s Rabam skills are Ninjutsu: Oni Shadow and Shuriken: Moon Drive. The main skill is Smokescreen, and the sub skills are Ninjutsu: Concealment (for Ninjutsu: Oni Shadow) and Shuriken: Flight (for Shuriken: Moon Drive).

Ninjutsu: Oni Shadow is more frequently used. Skill mechanics are the same as the Kunoichi’s Ninjutsu: Oni Shadow, so Ninjutsu: Oni Shadow is used for more dynamic action and Shuriken: Moon Drive is used for more damage.

However, unlike the Kunoichi’s Ninjutsu: Sinew Cut, Shuriken: Moon Drive cannot be connected to other skills smoothly. Shuriken: Moon Drive makes enemies float and the Ninja moves backward to become concealed so it is hard to start a combo immediately after. The skill does not deal particularly high damage either.

■ Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is another class that does not have any good Rabam skills. The DK’s level 56 Rabam skills are Shadow Strike and Wrath of Vedir. The main skill is Lunacy of Vedir, and the sub skills are Shadow Bullet (for Shadow Strike) and Corrupt Ground (for Wrath of Vedir).

Wrath of Vedir is never used. The skill cannot deal much damage, and has a very long animation delay before and after the skill, decreasing the overall DPS. Not using Wrath of Vedir will increase the overall DPS. Shadow Strike is not used much in PvP, but is an okay skill in PvE. The skill can hit enemies from a distance with short casting animation, and will bound enemies.

However, the projectiles in Shadow Strike will be blocked by geographical features like trees and ceilings. The projectiles are blocked more in narrow buildings like Basilisk, so many players do not use the skill at all.

■ Striker

The Striker’s level 56 Rabam skills are Rising Wolf Fang and Flow: Back Step. The main skill is Flow: Mass Destruction, and the sub skills are Wolf’s Fang (for Rising Wolf Fang) and Flash Step (for Flow: Back Step). The skills are used in different situations, so the preference for each skill is about the same.

Rising Wolf Fang is used for clearing enemies with burst damage. The skill has big and slow animation, but the damage burst is big enough to make up for that slow animation. However, the Critical Hit buff only works in PvE so the skill is not that viable in PvP.

Flow: Back Step gives the Striker an additional evasive move. You can press S during backward Flash Step or Silent Step to evade one more time. The skill gives invincibility frame, and the Striker won’t collide with other characters during the skill. The skill also gives a 30% movement speed buff that lasts for 10 seconds, so it will allow the Striker to easily escape.

If you tend to play aggressively, you should choose Rising Wolf Fang for more damage. If you want to play safe, you should choose Flow: Back Step to escape faster.

■ Mystic

The Mystic’s level 56 Rabam skills are Unbridled Wrath and Nature’s Wrath. The main skill is Rage Hammer, and the sub skills are Roaring Tiger (for Unbridled Wrath) and Triple Flying Kick (for Nature’s Wrath).

Unbridled Wrath is used for pure damage, and Nature’s Wrath is used for damage and buffs. Nature’s Wrath has a higher damage percentage, but Unbridled Wrath actually deals more damage with 100% critical hit. Also, Unbridled Wrath can hit a wider area.

In PvE, players’ opinions are divided into two. Some players think that they should use Unbridled Wrath to deal more damage, while other players think that Rabam skills can’t do much damage in high level grind spots so they should get the Accuracy buff from Nature’s Wrath.

In PvP, Nature’s Wrath is prefered over Unbridled Wrath. Most of the Mystic’s damage comes from Cestus, and the buffs from Nature’s Wrath (Evasion, Accuracy, and Attack Speed) are all important in PvP.
