Tom60229 is the new Hearthstone World Champion

The $1 million prize pool Hearthstone tournament concluded today, with Chen “tom60229” Wei-Lin has winning first place and the top share of the prize pool, $250,000. Over 1,500 fans attended live in Amsterdam to watch Fr0zen and Tom60229 battle it out.

The last game was a Druid mirror match and, after both players quickly ramped to high levels of man, it proved an all-out slugfest. Fr0zen's deck did not include copies of Arcane Tyrant, allowing Tom60229 to get ahead on tempo and benefit from a risky Ultimate Infestation decision. Tom60229 had just come from a 0-2 deficit, making his victory all the more hype for the massive online audience.

Tom60229 had this to say after this victory:

“It’s been an honor to play against some of the best Hearthstone players in the world. All the hard work I put in this year paid off – I feel I really deserved this win.”
