CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College is proud to announce the launch of a new sport; at the September board meeting, the board of trustees voted to begin a program for competitive video games known as esports.

“C-SC is excited to add a new sport to campus,” stated President Kelly M. Thompson. “I know everyone is looking forward to recruiting a new type of college athlete for a sport that continues to grow in popularity.”

C-SC is on the forefront, striving to meet the demands of current students and becoming the only campus in the area to offer an esport program. The College will compete under the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) association beginning in Fall 2018. The newly dedicated Carolyn L. & Robert W. Brown Residence Hall includes three classrooms and a room designated for the esports program. The room will be equipped with gigabit internet connection as well as 12 workstations and other specialized gaming equipment.

Culver-Stockton College held a press conference on Wednesday, October 11, where they officially announced the program and showed a demo of esports. Those interested in the program can visit http://esports.culver.edu/ to learn more.
