The wow factor. That’s what I was searching for all weekend long during week four of the Overwatch Contenders. We witnessed one great play after another from some of the best players in the game, but only a few managed to do it in style.
Honorable Mentions
- EFFECT with the Pulse Bomb Lob
- Fischer’s Fadeaway Helix Rockets
The Top 5 Plays
#5. Sharp’s Big Bomb
They may be at the bottom of the standings in Europe, but Bazooka Puppiez’ latest addition of Hugo “SharP” Sahlberg put on a show for his team. Only at age 15, SharP’s unable to participate in the upcoming Overwatch League, but it looks like he’ll do just fine showcasing his abilities in the Contenders.
4. Logix Does it Again
Andreas “Logix” Berghmans has been one of the most outstanding players in Season One of Contenders so far with unparalleled Tracer gameplay. This play is just one of many big Pulse Bombs he was able to pull off this weekend; most of which he doesn’t even need a Graviton Surge for.
3. Jaru Pushes for the Spawn
When you’re on the most up and coming Overwatch team in North America, you’ve got to have some playmakers. Jason “Jaru” White is that guy for EnVision Esports who thoroughly dismantled Kungarna this weekend. Jaru’s Genji was unstoppable on their route to victory.
2. Babybaby’s Remarkable Widowmaker
Perhaps the only highlight for Kungarna all weekend was at the hands of DPS player Andrej “babybay” Francisty, who certainly added Widowmaker to his highlight reel. A pick out of the ordinary for Kungarna when they were already down 0-3 in the set, what did he have to lose?
#1. TviQ Rains Justice From Above
Easily one of the closest series of Contenders so far, Misfits versus GamersOrigin had plenty of plays to go around. The most remarkable of which involved Kevyn “TviQ” Lindström taking control of the skies on Pharah, decimating his opponents on the ground.
