On August 1st (KST), KT Rolster became the leader of the pack in the LCK Spring Split as they defeated Longzhu Gaming 2-0. As KT defeated LZ in a close Game 1 and quickly overwhelmed LZ in Game 2, Kyungho "Smeb" Song picked Renekton and Maokai in Game 1 and 2 respectively and showed a solid performance throughout the match.

Here is our interview with Kyungho "Smeb" Song.

Congratulations on reaching first place. How do you feel?

We were still anxious despite preparing well for today's match because LZ was doing so well recently. I even lost some sleep too, but I'm happy since we won in the end.

Your performance in the second half of the split has been stellar.

After coming back from the Rift Rivals, we prepared our matches thinking how we should win all remaining matches. It wasn't easy, but we are now only one match win away from making it a reality. I really want to get that sweet reward of victory after winning the one last remaining match. A ticket straight to finals, the World Championship and vacation - I'm already ready for them. We've really done our best to make this close to being a reality.

How do you evaluate today's match?

I think we were overwhelming in Game 1 as well, but we overextended so much that our opponent got a chance to come back into the game. We certainly snowballed our way to victory without a hitch in Game 2.

Your last match of the regular season will be against SKT T1. Do you think you'll defeat them this time?

Like we always have done, we will do our best to prepare. Although we've lost against them previously this split, I think we have played well even in that match. So, with more preparation and composure, I believe we will defeat them this time.

Renekton made his return after being missing from pro matches for sometime. Do you think he is still a good champion in this metagame?

Although Renekton wasn't popular recently, it remains as a fearsome champion at Level 6, so I think it's still a good champion if you can make the most of it.

Thank you for the interview. Do you have anything else that you want to share?

Our DPS players have been doing really well recently. I'm both thankful and proud of them. Also, our coaching staffs have been preparing well for matches and communicates really well with us. Once again, we could start the game with a lead after the draft phase. Thank you [coaching staffs].

Also, our last match of the regular season will be against SKT, so I think our fans must be worried about how we might lose against them like before. We'll do our best until the end to end the season with a victory.
